AC Milan part ways with Walker: return to Manchester is a done deal!
AC Milan have decided not to exercise the purchase option for Kyle Walker. The England international is returning to Manchester City after his loan spell. Walker was loaned to the “Rossoneri” from Manchester City at the end of January 2025, but was unable to convince those responsible at the Italian club. In his 16 games for Milan, the 96-time England international did not show the desired performances.
The decision could also be related to the fact that Pep Guardiola recently stopped relying on Walker, which led to his loan. AC Milan had a five million euro purchase option for Walker, which is now not being used. Walker wore the number 32 for Milan after previously having a successful career at Manchester City, where he won 17 trophies in 319 games, including six Premier League titles and a Champions League title in 2023.
Familiar faces leave Milan
In addition to Walker, João Félix is also leaving the club. The player, who was on loan from Chelsea, also failed to assert himself and left Milan after just a few appearances. Riccardo Sottil will also leave Milan after just six games, underlining the fleeting nature of some of the club's new additions.
Walker's return to Manchester is seen by many as a logical consequence, especially since his role at Milan did not live up to expectations. Walker began his career at Sheffield United before moving to Tottenham Hotspur, where he made his Premier League debut in March 2010. His move to Manchester City followed in 2017 and since then he has established himself as one of the best defenders.
Current developments at AC Milan
In another update, Milan recently won an important game against Monza 2-0. Matteo Gabbia and João Félix scored the goals for the club. The game took place at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium and Milan were particularly strong after the transfer challenges posed.
AC Milan's plans and actions in this transfer window reflect a desire to create a competitive team while managing the return of some players who will be leaving the club. Different strategies will be necessary to tackle the latest challenge in Serie A and give Milan the opportunity to realize their ambitions.
