Science or panic? Experts clarify Corona numbers on Tuesday!

An exciting event is coming! On Tuesday, November 12th, 2024, at 5:30 p.m., the University of Kaiserslautern will be the venue for insightful conversations about the controversial Corona numbers and the computer-aided models that had a significant influence on political decisions during the pandemic. The renowned mathematician and presenter, Prof. Dr. Bernd Simeon invites everyone interested to two exciting lectures in lecture hall 210 (building 46).

The two experts who will share their knowledge and insights are Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Gerd Antes, a well-known medical statistician and former director of the German Cochrane Center, and PD Dr. rer. nat. Robert Rockenfeller, a mathematician from the University of Koblenz. The questions at the center are burning: Was the data at that time viable? How reliable were the forecasts that significantly influenced our everyday lives? What has changed in knowledge about the pandemic since then?

Program highlights

The process is strictly structured: at 5:30 p.m. the welcome is given by Prof. Dr. Bernd Simeon. Then follows the lecture by Prof. Dr. Gerd Antes, which lasts until around 6:30 p.m. and offers space for questions. After a short break at 6:50 p.m., PD Dr. Rockenfeller will present his findings, followed by another round of discussion until around 8 p.m.

After the lectures, the event couldn't end better: a relaxed get-together is planned in the nearby summer house, where the participants can also exchange ideas in person. Everyone is warmly invited to take part in this important discourse!
