Health risks from contamination
Food recalls, such as the one currently initiated by Hofer, are often associated with health risks that consumers should take seriously. Contamination by bacteria such as salmonella or listeria, pesticide residues, unacceptable ingredients or the presence of foreign bodies are among the most common reasons for such recalls. A comprehensive overview of current warnings can be found on the website consumerzentrale.de can be viewed.
The portal is operated by the Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety (BVL) and the federal states and offers a central contact point for consumers.
