This gang, consisting of five eleven and twelve-year-olds identified as Syrian, Afghan and Austrian, threatened and robbed several young people with a knife, without causing any injuries. The crimes took place in October, and despite the arrests of five people involved, the police are still looking for other accomplices. Criminal prosecution is problematic due to the age of the perpetrators, as they are under 14 years old and therefore cannot be held responsible.

The urgent need to both better protect children at risk and inform the public about the security situation has come to the fore in recent days. Janoch is not only calling for a rethink in society, but also for tangible measures to ensure the safety of the youngest people. “The protection of children and young people must finally be the top priority,” said Janoch.
