Shock in Vienna: gang of child robbers threatens young people with knives!

In Vienna, children and young people are increasingly the focus of violence and criminal activity. Local councilor Silvia Janoch from the Vienna People's Party appeals to the local council for expanded child protection. “Protecting children from 0 to 18 years of age is not only a legal duty, but also a moral obligation,” she emphasizes, calling for decisive action against violence and neglect, which cannot be ignored even in a city like Vienna. Particularly alarming is the increase in access to drugs such as LSA capsules and CBD products for minors, which are freely available. Janoch calls for rigorous laws and strict controls to protect children from these dangers, also because real cannabis and other dangerous substances were discovered in a raid on CBD shops, which shows an acute need for action.

The situation is further illustrated by the members of a child robber gang who have just been arrested oe24.at reported. This gang, consisting of five eleven and twelve-year-olds identified as Syrian, Afghan and Austrian, threatened and robbed several young people with a knife, without causing any injuries. The crimes took place in October, and despite the arrests of five people involved, the police are still looking for other accomplices. Criminal prosecution is problematic due to the age of the perpetrators, as they are under 14 years old and therefore cannot be held responsible.

The urgent need to both better protect children at risk and inform the public about the security situation has come to the fore in recent days. Janoch is not only calling for a rethink in society, but also for tangible measures to ensure the safety of the youngest people. “The protection of children and young people must finally be the top priority,” said Janoch.
