Christmas sounds: students delight with a festive concert!

An inspiring concert at the Thayatal Music School set the right tone in the run-up to Christmas. Daniel Heger opened the evening with the popular Christmas classic “Jingle Bells”. This was followed by Niklas Hoffstätter with “Auf der Mauer, auf der Luer”, followed by Marie Rabl, who presented the pieces “O Tannenbaum” and “Let us be happy and cheerful”. Christoph Zeilinger rounded off the evening with the impressive piece “Smuggler’s Cove” by James Rae and the Christmas carol “Hört sie die Engelchen sing”, wie die NOP reported.

Heidegger and the technological challenge

In a different context, the philosopher Martin Heidegger addressed the challenges that technology posed to our society in his famous lectures. The fundamental questions he raised not only illuminate the technological developments of the post-war period, but also point to a growing awareness among young people that goes beyond technical skills. These reflections have been published in a new work that translates the entire “Bremen and Freiburg Lectures” collection into English, as on Academia.edu is presented.

Heidegger's lectures leave a lasting impression by questioning modern Western society's dependence on technology while opening up space for new thinking. Such critical reflections are particularly relevant at a time when technology shapes our daily lives. The lectures took place in 1949 and are part of a dialogue about the meaning of being in the contemporary world.
