Summer holidays for children: adventure and sport await in 2025!
Exciting offers for children and young people in the region are on the program for the coming summer holidays. The EMTV has organized two different leisure activities that include both sporting and adventurous elements. shz.de
For the holiday camp on Föhr, which will take place from August 9th to 16th, 2025, the program is aimed at children aged 8 to 14. Participants can look forward to a variety of activities that not only promote new friendships, but also provide valuable experiences. Since places are limited, early registration is recommended. The EMTV summer holiday sports camp will take place from August 11th to 15th, 2025. Children and young people born between 2015 and 2019 are welcome here. The program includes various sports, dance and racquet games and is held daily from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Lunch will be provided for the physical well-being of the participants, and here too registration is done via a QR code.
Event on the role of sport for integration and democracy
In addition to the holiday offers, EMTV recently held an event on the topic “Why is sport so important for integration and democracy?” organized in the Pinneberg district hall. This took place on November 29th and was carried out in collaboration with the Schleswig-Holstein State Sports Association (LSV) and the Pinneberg district. The event was attended by 47 participants from various areas such as politics, sports and society. It served as a platform for exchange about the essential role of sport in integration and social cohesion. The response from those present was consistently positive. emtv.de
A central topic of the discussion was the DOSB's “Integration through Sport” and “Sport for All – Sport with Refugees” programs, which are supported by the Schleswig-Holstein Ministry of the Interior and the LSV. Jonathan Syring presented a qualitative study that included findings on strengthening integration pilots in Schleswig-Holstein. In the welcoming speeches by Uwe Altemeier (EMTV) and Doris Birkenbach (LSV), the importance of sport as a cultural bridge and for promoting democratic values was emphasized. Syring also called for long-term structural and financial security for the integration pilots.
The final panel discussion with experts, including Karsten Lübbe (LSV) and Narin Rashid, provided valuable insights into the challenges such as building trust, language barriers and the inclusion of women in sport. Moderated by Benni Lumin Schmitz, the event was lively and well-founded in terms of content. It became clear that further political and social support is necessary to secure integration structures through sport. Politicians and decision-makers showed a keen interest in the speakers' concerns.
