Million deal: Oig and Schultz find peace after years of argument!
Kals, Österreich - On April 17, 2025, the lengthy dispute over the shares of Osttiroler Investment GmbH (OIG) was included in the Kalser Bergbahn. According to Dolomitenstadt agreed on the Schultz Group and the OIG on a purchase price, which was not published, however. The argument that its roots traced back to 2015 sparked a planned “silent grant” of six million euros from the OIG to the Schultz Group.
The Oig, which manages profits from toll revenue on the Felbertauern, is part of Felbertauern AG and the state of Tyrol. In 2008, the company invested six million euros in the Kals-Maturn ski swing and thus achieved 25.1 percent of the company shares. This direct participation was considered a real taboo break, since the toll revenue was originally intended for loans to small and medium -sized companies.
The course of the legal dispute
In summer 2018, the OIG withdrew from the Kalser Bergbahnen and handed over its quarter to the Schultz Group. The price for this departure was initially kept secret and later associated with four euros, which led to a storm of indignation, especially from the opposition list Fritz. Markus Sint, a member of this list, provided numerous inquiries to the state government on this topic.
2021 The state government admitted its responsibility in dealing with tax money. An arbitrator concluded that the realistic assignment price should be between 2.5 million and 5.7 million euros. However, the Schultz Group did not respond to this estimate, and the case ended up in court. In May 2022, the OIG announced that Schultz announced for payment of 5.7 million euros for the shares. Although the causa has been solved in agreement, the amount of the purchase price remains unknown.
criticism and demands for transparency
The uncertainty about the purchase price caused excitement in East Tyrol. Markus Sint criticized the lack of transparency and demanded that more detailed information about the agreement made were published.
According to a unanimous decision by the OIG supervisory board, the step to clarify the assignment price from legal instances was considered necessary. It is the endeavor of the OIG to ensure that the transfer of the shares has been handled fairly and understandably, which also fueled the complaints around 5.7 million euros. This cause has re-lived in the discussion about dealing with public funds in the region ( small newspaper , orf tirol ).
