Illegal food waste: Perpetrators leave 70 bags in the forest!
A shocking incident is causing a stir in the Spittal an der Drau district: unknown perpetrators have left what is an unimaginable sight for many along Millstätter Straße (B98) - more than 50 to 70 garbage bags filled with food, which were thrown over the guard rail into a steeply sloping forest area to the "Bruggersiedlung". The road shame extends for about 200 meters and poses not only pollution but also a threat to wildlife, according to local authorities. This is not an isolated case, as a similar incident occurred in Laufenberg on December 20th, where around 160 bags were illegally disposed of meinkreis.at reported.
Violations of the law are the focus of the police
The police report that they have already started an investigation into the first incident in the municipality of Radenthein. Food was dumped in both incidents and authorities are alarmed at the continued violations of the law. Another report from kaernten.orf.at highlights that such an act is not only considered illegal but also has serious consequences for the environment. Measures are currently being taken to identify the perpetrators and stop such disastrous disposal practices.
The irresponsibility behind these acts raises questions about society's perception of waste and its disposal. The public prosecutor's office could as soon as possible bring to light who is responsible for this shocking environmental pollution and thus be held accountable under the principle of "harm and punishment."
