In the Westerwald district, significant progress has been made in setting up a modern siren warning system. On December 18, 2024, the 100th siren was installed in the municipality of Deesen, which belongs to Ransbach-Baumbach. This project, which has been pursued since August 2023 in collaboration with all ten municipalities in the district, cost around four million euros. With the installation of the siren on the roof of the old village school, an efficient warning to the population is now guaranteed WW-Kurier.de reported.

After the successful implementation, 86 of a total of 192 communities in the Westerwald district have already received a siren. The entire siren warning system should be fully functional by 2026. The new systems offer various alarm tones, including special signals for warning the public, all-clear, test alarms and alerting the fire department. In order to optimize signaling, the fire brigade will no longer be alerted via sirens in the future. The systems are also equipped with powerful batteries that guarantee reliable function even during power outages.
