Safety measures after fire: Dynamit Nobel disposes of dangerous substances
Danger is brewing in Leverkusen! After a devastating fire almost two weeks ago, the Dynamit Nobel company started to dispose of dangerous substances from the affected building. The situation is so dire that the company has set up a security radius within the factory premises. “As a precaution,” as they emphasized in a statement on Thursday evening. Disposal is carried out in close coordination with the authorities and experts in order to prevent possible subsequent reactions.
Traffic disruptions and security measures
On Thursday evening, the railway line on the eastern edge of the factory site as well as the Willy-Brandt-Ring and Kalkstrasse were closed for a short time. This happened according to the authorities, who immediately called in additional experts to assess the situation. The tension was noticeable, but a short time later the all-clear came: the safety radius could be limited to the factory premises.
Although the situation has calmed down, there is still no precise information about the substances being disposed of or the duration of the process. However, Dynamit Nobel assures that “no immediate impact on the neighborhood is expected.” Residents can therefore breathe a sigh of relief while the experts continue to work on a safe disposal concept.
