Serious accident in Switzerland: child and driver seriously injured!
A serious accident made headlines on Tuesday, November 26th near Koblenz, Switzerland. At 1:30 p.m. there was a dramatic collision between a car and a post bus. For reasons that are still unclear, the dark gray Peugeot crossed into the opposite lane shortly before the Aare Bridge and crashed head-on into the oncoming Swiss Post bus. In this collision, the bus was hit so hard that it slipped off the road and remained on its side, according to the Aargau cantonal police.
A total of ten people were injured in the accident, including a seriously injured child and the 20-year-old driver, both of whom had to be flown to a hospital in rescue helicopters. The bus driver was able to be freed from his vehicle by the fire department, while seven other passengers on the bus fortunately only suffered minor injuries. The rescue of the post bus posed a considerable challenge for the emergency services. The accident site was completely closed for almost seven hours until the fire department was able to remove the diversion and reopen the road. An investigation into the exact cause of the accident has been initiated as initial indications indicate that the Peugeot may have driven onto the wrong road.
Rescue operation in the French Alps
Overall, it is once again clear that traffic accidents can have devastating consequences and that rescue services in both Switzerland and France are reaching their limits.
