Guardian angels in action: Bus accident in Essen with a mild outcome!
In the darkness of Monday evening there was a dramatic accident on the coal road between Byfang and Burgaltendorf, on the border with Hattingen. A Ruhrbahn bus suddenly left the road, broke through a guardrail and tipped over on its side into a ditch. When the fire brigade arrived, which was on site with numerous emergency services and ambulances, it was initially unclear how many people were on the bus and how WDR reports.
In addition to the driver, there were only two people on the bus: the bus driver and an underage boy. Fortunately, both were almost uninjured and were able to get out of the bus through the broken rear window. “The inmates had some guardian angels,” said Nico Blum from the fire department happily. After climbing up the slope, they were quickly treated by rescue workers. The recovery of the vehicle proved to be lengthy and took the whole night, although the route between Essen-Byfang and Burgaltendorf has now been reopened Radio Essen reports.
The police have now started investigating the cause of the accident. The overturned bus belonged to a subcontractor that works for the Ruhrbahn. There is currently no further information on the current status of the investigation or the exact reasons for the accident.
