Shocking traffic accidents: Injured children and dramatic rescue missions!

In the last few days there have been serious traffic accidents in Upper Austria and Styria, which have resulted in numerous injuries. On Saturday, December 28, 2024, the St. Nikola Volunteer Fire Department was called to an accident involving a tractor in Waldneukirchen. A car collided in the intersection of the B140. The Red Cross also arrived quickly on site and took care of the four occupants of the car, who were then taken to the Pyhrn-Eisenwurzen Clinic in Steyr for further examination. The fire brigade carried out traffic control and, after completing the accident investigation, only removed small plastic parts from the road, as no resources had leaked. The operation was successfully completed after an hour, with a total of 13 firefighters and three Red Cross ambulances on duty.

Collision in southern Styria

A few days earlier, on December 8, 2024, another serious accident occurred in St. Johann im Saggautal. A total of seven people, including four children, were injured in a head-on collision between two cars. The 41-year-old driver and his seven-year-old son suffered serious injuries and had to be taken to the Graz Regional Hospital by air rescue. The other vehicle was a 35-year-old from the Graz area who was traveling on the L604 with his wife and their son. The cause of the collision, which took place in the intersection area with Untergreithweg, is currently unclear and is being investigated by the authorities. An automatically triggered e-call was used during the incident, which immediately alerted the emergency services. A total of five first responders, nine Red Cross vehicles and two rescue helicopters were in action. The accident scene was closed until around 2pm while police investigated and traffic was diverted.
