Giant pump for Tyrol: Jenbach fire department receives new high-performance technology
A new high-performance pump has officially been put into service in Tyrol and boasts impressive specifications. This mobile pump, mounted on an 8.3 meter long trailer, can pump up to 25,000 liters of water per minute - a volume equivalent to over 165 bathtubs. The official handover to the Jenbach fire department took place in Telfs, where the pump will be stationed in the future tirol.gv.at reported. This investment of around 380,000 euros will be borne 75 percent by the state of Tyrol and 25 percent by the municipality of Jenbach.
Technical data and strategic use
The pump is equipped with a 278 hp diesel engine and weighs eleven tons. With powerful 300 meters of hose material, it can be used even in hard-to-reach areas, making it an indispensable tool in flood operations. According to state fire brigade commander Jakob Unterladstätter, this pump will be able to be used not only in Tyrol, but also in disaster operations in other regions, such as most recently in Rosenheim and Lower Austria. The State Security Councilor Astrid Mair emphasizes that this pump is a central component of a comprehensive concept to improve disaster control competence, which was developed last year.
This large pump concept includes a total of 18 pumps that are strategically distributed across Tyrol. State fire brigade inspector Rene Staudacher explains that the Jenbach fire brigade has already completed special training on how to operate the new pump. “This means we are ideally positioned to act quickly in an emergency and to quickly pump out large cellars or underground car parks,” adds Unterladstätter, an aspect that the purchase of this high-performance pump particularly underlines tirol.orf.at reported.
