A dramatic incident occurred at Melbourne Airport on Sunday evening when a pilot of an Etihad Airways Boeing 787 Dreamliner had to abort take-off due to technical problems with emergency braking. According to reports, the plane was traveling at a speed of at least 200 kilometers per hour when the pilot took control. During this risky maneuver, two tires were badly damaged and smoke rose from under the machine. One passenger described the situation as “the most frightening moment of my life,” as many of the 289 passengers at that moment believed their lives were about to end, as did they crown reported.
Course of the accident and evacuation
Although the incident was very worrying, fortunately all passengers and crew were uninjured. According to Etihad Airways, which wanted to operate the flight from Melbourne to Abu Dhabi, the fire department was immediately alerted and pictures show the emergency vehicles rushing to the plane. However, the incident left Melbourne Airport with only one runway until Monday morning, causing significant delays to other flights.
