On April 2, 2025, the Rohrbach fire department was alerted to counteract a large-scale oil leak in the Große Mühl area in the Mühlviertel. When the emergency services arrived, there was a strong smell of diesel and heating oil, which accelerated the situation on site. The leak is attributed to a defect in a farmer's tank system, with around 1,000 liters of diesel fuel leaking into the waterways via the sewage system and drainage. The police worked closely with the firefighters to get the situation under control as quickly as possible.
In addition to the Rohrbach fire department, a total of four fire departments were deployed to deal with the situation. To prevent the fuel from spreading further, four oil barriers were built along the Große Mühl. Fortunately, the situation was brought under control and the affected areas were secured.
