Large fire brigade operation in Eimbeckhausen and Essen! In two dramatic incidents, the fire brigade and rescue workers were called upon to deal with basement fires that endangered both lives and homes. On Tuesday, December 17th, emergency services in Eimbeckhausen were alerted when a tumble dryer in the basement of a residential building caught fire. Fortunately, the five people in the building were able to escape on their own before the fire department arrived NDZ reported. A total of 60 emergency services were on site and after a two-hour fire-fighting and rescue operation, the danger was averted.
The second fire occurred on Monday when smoke was reported coming from the basement of an apartment building on Brüder-Scholl-Strasse in Essen at around 3 p.m. When the fire brigade arrived, flames were already shooting out of the basement windows and thick smoke had made the stairwell inaccessible. Loud Radio Essen Numerous residents became visible at windows and balconies, while the fire brigade immediately began an external attack and rescued people in the smoke-filled rooms. A total of around 80 emergency services and several rescue vehicles were deployed to evacuate the 119 residents.
Three people suffered minor injuries from smoke inhalation and were transported to hospitals. Due to the heavy smoke and the cause of the fire, which is currently being investigated by the police, the building is uninhabitable. The city of Essen provided emergency accommodation for the 45 people affected, including many children.
