Fire brigade in constant operation: flames and smoke from chimneys!

In the last few days, two chimney burning incidents caused a stir in Austria and Germany, requiring the fire brigade to intervene quickly. A chimney fire was reported in Horbranz when attentive neighborhood children discovered a flame coming from the chimney of a wood-fired stove. These children immediately alerted the residents of the house, who then called the fire department. However, when the Hörbranz fire brigade arrived, there was no longer any flame visible, only thick smoke was coming out of the chimney. The emergency services checked the chimney and informed a chimney sweep. Fortunately, there were no injuries or property damage VOL.AT reported.

Parallel to this incident, the fire department in Eilenburg responded to another chimney fire on Thursday afternoon. Here, a resident apparently started a fire when lighting an ethanol fireplace, which led to a flash fire. This burning liquid dripped onto a sofa below. An emergency service had to be called to treat an injured person. The fire department transported the chimney outside and carried out an inspection of the affected area with a thermal imaging camera. In this case too, further measures were no longer necessary LVZ reported.
