On Friday, February 7, 2025, a dramatic apartment fire in a high -rise on Teichstraße in Mettmann caused excitement. The fire brigade was alerted at 1:04 p.m. after several callers reported on an explosion in an apartment on the fourth floor. The Mettmann fire brigade immediately initiated a human rescue and resorted to several squads with respiratory protection devices. Supported by emergency services and a rescue helicopter, all affected people were sighted and cared for on site, fortunately nobody was injured. The fast and professional reaction of the emergency services prevented the fire from spreading, which could be quickly brought under control. Due to the danger situation and the affected residents, surrounding roads had to be closed. A total of around 75 firefighters were in action for four hours, reports Anc-News.

The affected apartment in the multi -storey building is now uninhabitable. The police have started the cause of the fire in order to clarify the exact background of the explosion and fire. Thanks to the effective use, there were no injured people, but the incident remains an urgent example of the dangers in apartment buildings, especially in such fires.
