Tragic fire incidents in Tyrol shake the holiday spirit. In the municipality of Kappl, a wooden house belonging to a family of four, including a 76-year-old woman, was completely destroyed by a devastating fire on Sunday night. The fire probably started near an ashtray, police said. “They were able to save small belongings,” explained Kappl’s mayor Helmut Ladner, who describes the dramatic situation of the family, which is now left with nothing. The family can stay with relatives over the Christmas holidays, but there is already an apartment available for the period afterwards, which has been provided by a member of the shooting club. To support the family during this difficult time, the community will set up a donation account ORF Tyrol reported.
At the same time, there was another fire in Niederbreitenbach. On Sunday evening, fire broke out near a kitchen stove in an apartment building while the family living there was not at home. Thanks to attentive neighbors, the fire was quickly extinguished, but the massive smoke caused significant damage to the kitchen. The affected family now also has to stay with relatives in Kufstein and renovation of the living space will take an estimated three months, according to Mayor Andreas Ehrenstrasser. In Hall in Tirol, 19 people reported that their house was uninhabitable after a fire on Saturday night. Replacement accommodation is currently being sought here, while the fire brigade was able to quickly bring the fire under control.
