VW and Porsche in the billion dollar debacle: loss of 1.07 billion euros!

The Volkswagen Group recorded a bitter loss of 1.072 billion euros in the third quarter of 2025, as vol.at reports. For comparison: In the previous year, the company achieved a surplus of 1.56 billion euros. In the first nine months of the year, the total surplus fell by more than 60 percent from 8.8 billion to 3.4 billion euros. The main reasons for this negative development are charges totaling 7.5 billion euros, which arose in particular from increased customs duties, adjustments to Porsche's product strategy and write-downs on Porsche's goodwill.

The drastic adjustments and depreciation at Porsche burdened the group with 4.7 billion euros. If these special effects had been ignored, the profit margin would have been 5.4 percent. Despite these challenges, the group's sales remained almost stable in the first nine months and rose by 0.6 percent to 239 billion euros. Deliveries also increased by 1.2 percent to 6.6 million vehicles.

The impact on Porsche and the core Volkswagen brand

Porsche also reported a third-quarter loss during the same period, partly due to costs related to its strategy change to extend combustion engines. The loss was almost one billion euros, and earnings after taxes fell by almost 96 percent in the first nine months. In contrast, the core Volkswagen brand improved and recorded an operating return on sales of 2.3 percent in the first nine months.

The planned restructuring program for the core VW brand envisages a drastic cut of more than 35,000 jobs by 2030 in order to overcome the financial challenges. In the third quarter, 2.2 million vehicles were delivered across the group, an increase of 1 percent compared to the previous year. Particularly noteworthy are the growth in the area of electric cars and the strong sales figures of the subsidiaries Škoda and Seat.

However, there were declines in sales in North America and China, while the situation in Europe improved. Group-wide sales of electric cars rose by a third, accounting for more than 10 percent of all vehicles sold. These trends show that although the VW Group faces major challenges, it also sees potential for improvement in new market segments.

A look into adult culture

Away from the world of automobiles, there are interesting developments in the area of adult entertainment. As jezebel.com reports, Bonnie, 70, and Joel, 69, recently filmed their first adult film titled “Guide to Wicked Sex: Senior Sex.” The aim of this film is to show that sex can be enjoyable even as you get older, despite the physical changes that come with getting older.

The film, co-directed by adult actress Jessica Drake and author Joan Price, is aimed at seniors and addresses not only aspects of sexual pleasure, but also the need for safer practices. During filming, Bonnie experienced some difficulties due to heat and fibromyalgia, which led to pauses in the action. Their openness to discuss the topics raised stands out from the limited sex education of previous generations.

Combined with the trend of featuring older actors in adult films, this project represents a clear step towards countering the stigma surrounding sexuality in old age. The producers emphasize the importance of communication and adaptability in sexual experiences as we age, which is also evident in the use of sex toys and the focus on personal needs and preferences.

Bonnie and Joel, who met online 11 years ago and are in a polyamorous relationship, also run a sexuality discussion group for seniors in North Carolina. Her film concludes with the successful capture of the required scenes, with an emphasis on the joy and laughter in her sexual experiences.
