Simon Ammann: Bitter demotion – Talent Wasser takes over!

Another setback for Swiss ski jumping legend Simon Ammann! The double Olympic champion from 2002 and 2010 will be removed from the World Cup squad after missing qualification for the opening competition of the Four Hills Tournament. Ski jumping coach Martin Künzle confirmed to the View that Ammann needs to regain confidence in his jumps. This means that the 43-year-old will compete in the Continental Cup for the next two weeks and will therefore miss the World Cup jumping in Zakopane, Poland.

The decision to replace Ammann came a few days after the Four Hills Tournament was canceled. Ammann and his coaching team decided to take this step and returned to Switzerland to prepare intensively. His place in the World Cup squad will be taken by the promising talent Yannick Wasser, who excelled in Engelberg, as Künzle explained. This means that the future of ski jumping in Switzerland will continue to be shaped by young talent, while Ammann will be temporarily demoted to the second division in order to improve his form. These developments were also by Daily Gazette confirmed.
