Simon Ammann: Bitter downgrading - Talent Water takes over!

Zakopane, Polen - Another setback for the Swiss ski jumping legend Simon Ammann! The double Olympic champion from 2002 and 2010 will be removed from the World Cup squad after his missed qualification for the opening jumping jump of the four-hill tour. Ski jump coach Martin Künzle confirmed to the Blick that Ammann has to regain confidence in his leaps. This means that the 43-year-old will compete in the Continental Cup for the next two weeks and thus miss the World Cup jumping in the Polish Zakopane.

The decision to replace Ammann was made a few days after the four -hill tour was terminated. Ammann had chosen this step together with his coaching team and returned to Switzerland to prepare intensively. His place in the World Cup squad is taken by the promising talent Yannick Wasser, who has recognized himself in Engelberg, as Künzle said. This further shaped the future of ski jumping in Switzerland by young talents, while Ammann is temporarily downgraded to the second division to improve its shape. These developments were also confirmed by Tages-Anzeiger
