Trump threatens Putin: Tomahawk delivery for Ukraine under discussion!

US President Donald Trump will receive Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyj at the White House on Friday. The focus of the meeting is the possible delivery of Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine. These cruise missiles have a range of up to 2,500 kilometers and could enable Ukrainian army fighters to penetrate deep into Russian territory. Trump said he could threaten Vladimir Putin with this delivery if Russia did not stop its attacks on Ukraine. The relationship between Trump and Zelensky has improved in recent months, which is reflected in this dialogue. Vienna.at reports that this is a crucial step in US policy towards the ongoing conflict.

Ukraine is currently under heavy pressure from intensive attacks by Russia. Gas production facilities were hit in the Poltava region, leading to an immediate halt to operations. The head of the gas company Naftogaz, Serhiy Koretzkyj, reported several hits and destruction. Last night, Russia fired over 300 drones and 37 missiles into Ukraine. However, the Ukrainian army was able to intercept more than 280 drones and five missiles. The Russian Defense Ministry has reported continued attacks in the Sumy, Kharkiv and Donetsk directions, while the Ukrainian General Staff reported the destruction of Russian assembly points for soldiers and military infrastructure. MDR highlights that the Ukrainian civilian population is suffering from these daily attacks.

Responding to conflict escalation

Zelensky has accused Russia of carrying out double strikes to hit rescue workers during operations, adding an additional dimension to warfare. The Ukrainian president assured that the Tomahawk missiles would only be used for military purposes and not against civilians in Russia. At the same time, Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz proposed using frozen Russian assets to support Ukraine. Merz mentioned a possible provision of around 140 billion euros in interest-free loans and called for increased military strengthening of Europe in order to put pressure on Vladimir Putin. DW reported that Trump is also planning new initiatives to end Russia's war of aggression.

Ukraine is also responding to Russian attacks by carrying out attacks on strategic targets in enemy territory. More than 20 drones were reportedly shot down in Crimea, while a fuel depot in Feodosiya was set on fire. The aim of these attacks is to disrupt Russia's fuel supplies. In one week, Russia used over 3,100 drones, 92 missiles and 1,360 glide bombs against Ukraine. The situation remains tense and the conflict between Russia and Ukraine has been going on for more than three and a half years.
