Karin Zipperer: New chairwoman of the Asfinag supervisory board elected!

Karin Zipperer was unanimously elected as the new chairwoman of Asfinag's supervisory board. This election took place during the constitutive meeting of the newly appointed supervisory board, which represents a significant step for the Austrian infrastructure. Zipperer, who is managing director of the Eastern Region Transport Association (VOR), brings extensive experience from mobility and infrastructure companies, which will be of central importance for the challenges of the mobility transition. As Leadersnet reports, Zipperer emphasizes Asfinag's role as a significant infrastructure company and a best practice model in Europe.

Oliver Stribl, managing director of Wien Holding, was elected as Zipperer's first deputy. The new supervisory board is made up of other well-known members, including Cornelia Breuß, section head in the Federal Ministry for Innovation, Mobility and Infrastructure, and Alexandra Izdebska, Director of Business Development at the Modul University Vienna. Tourism entrepreneur Martha Schultz, Vice President of the Austrian Economic Chamber, and Peter Walder-Wintersteiner, Head of Cabinet in the Federal Ministry, are also represented there. The employee representatives, Gerlinde Mattanovich, Christian Petz and Martin Pretterhofer, will remain on the supervisory board.

Focus of the Supervisory Board

The new supervisory board plans to devote more attention to the topics of digitalization, sustainability and changing mobility needs. These priorities are all in line with the current trends in infrastructure and transport, which are outlined in an analysis by KPMG. The competition between governments for long-term capital and the need to promote sustainable developments form the background to the challenges that Asfinag intends to address.

The promotion of digitalization and sustainability is not only viewed as idealistic principles, but increasingly also as economic imperatives that require clear instructions for action for the future. With Zipperer's appearance at the head of the supervisory board, Asfinag could become a key player in the implementation of these necessary changes.

In addition to her duties at Asfinag, Zipperer is also Vice President of the GSV (Community Association for Transport), as Vor reports. This shows their commitment to the further development of mobility structures in Austria. With her expertise and the support of the new supervisory board, she could make a decisive contribution to ensuring that Asfinag successfully overcomes the challenges of the mobility transition.
