Fatal collision on the B9: driver dies, passenger injured!
A tragic incident on the B9 in Petronell Carnuntum called for a fatality on Tuesday and left a seriously injured passenger. The 52-year-old driver died at the scene of the accident, while his 27-year-old passenger was flown to the University Hospital Wiener Neustadt with life-threatening injuries. According to the police, the vehicle got on the opposite lane at around 9:30 a.m. and headed frontally with a tractor-trailer, the 28-year-old driver of which was fortunately only suffered slight injuries. The violent impact led to the left front wheel of the truck torn down and the truck broke through a guiding rail before it came to a standstill on an embankment.
In parallel, another incident occurred on a different route of the B9, where a 36-year-old alcoholic truck driver freaked out to a control point and damaged several warning, light masts and company vehicles. In this incident, which took place on December 24, two police officers injured themselves in one of the office containers, who were only slightly injured. An alcohol test carried out resulted in 1.8 per thousand, which deprived him of the driver's license and a blood sample was ordered. The incident led to the blocking of the B9 from France for several hours, while the THW reduced the damaged control point and the traffic situation was restored, such as OE24 reported .The police continue to be investigated to clarify the exact course of the two accidents.
