Zweibrücken knife stabber: Not a word of remorse after the bloody act!
Courtroom drama! The 28-year-old Afghan, who is in the dock for attempted murder, showed no remorse. “In my culture there are no excuses,” he had his interpreter translate on Friday in the Zweibrücken regional court when he was given the last chance to make a statement. But the bloody crime he committed is the focus. On March 28, he unleashed his anger on a roommate in a devastating knife attack.
The public prosecutor, Rouven Balzer, accused: In the kitchen of their small apartment, the Afghan attacked his 30-year-old compatriot with four targeted knife stabs. The victim, who tried to protect himself from the malicious attack, suffered life-threatening injuries and was subsequently unable to defend himself. According to the prosecutor's indignation, a “life in conflict” was raging, while the defendant, who did nothing to ensure his integration, was seen as the cause of the escalation.
A life marked by conflicts
The hostile roommates were burdened by disagreements over cleanliness and drug use. The public prosecutor described that the conflicts could not be resolved by a team of city social workers who arrived on the morning of the crime. The evening then ended with the brutal knife attack when deep-seated anger over the previous complaint led to a physical assault.
No regrets! This Afghan man showed an unwavering face during the trial. Mr. Balzer is demanding a prison sentence of ten years for attempted murder. The defense attorney, however, argued that the allegations of treachery were not true because the victim was not helpless at the time of the attack. He also argued for a mild sentence of eight years, influenced by psychological problems. It remains to be seen what the court will decide on Tuesday, October 29th.
