Reconciliation and Christmas: A celebration of community in Riehen!
On December 26, 2024, a special event took place as part of the Basel tradition “Kundi by people for people”. The president of the event welcomed the event by speaking out in favor of reconciliation and emphasized that this idea is particularly needed in current times. The festival kicked off with Christmas songs performed by the CVJM trombone choir Riehen.
How Jaumann publishing house reported, ham was traditionally served with potato salad as well as a vegetarian version. The selection of drinks included non-alcoholic beer, black and fruit tea, and the food was served directly at the seat. A team of helpers who worked quickly, efficiently and thoroughly ensured that all participants were well looked after.

A young man attending the event for the second time had cut off contact with his family to avoid frustration and hatred. He expressed a desire to spend Christmas with people he likes. Walter Schudel, a well-known joker, was also present and wanted to entertain the participants.
Participants also shared personal memories. An older Kurdish woman who speaks German poorly and comes to Kundi regularly was accompanied by her daughter this year. The latter reported that her mother can socialize here because she is usually alone a lot. Your grandchildren live in Germany.
In another incident that points to the idea of reconciliation, reported Palverlag by two brothers who live in neighboring farms and have been arguing for years. When a builder came by, one of the brothers asked to build a high wall so that he would no longer have to see his brother. However, the builder acted differently and instead built a bridge between the courtyards. After completion, the other brother crossed the bridge, hugged his brother, thanked him for the invitation and asked for forgiveness. The first brother felt relieved and also asked for forgiveness while the builder finished his task to build more bridges.
