Traffic chaos in Pirna: New cycle path causes massive restrictions!

Pirna

According to information from the city of Pirna, Dippoldiswalder Straße will probably be partially closed until November 25th. Traffic in this section, which runs near the Lidl car park, is controlled by traffic lights so that traffic can continue in both directions, although this will be slow at first.

Construction closures and their time frame

In addition, Zehistaer Strasse is also affected, and will be partially closed in the area from Kohlbergstrasse to the Einsteinstrasse roundabout from October 14th to around December 13th. In this section, traffic can only flow in the direction of Zehista, while vehicles traveling into the city are redirected via the signposted motorway slip road.

The thesis that these traffic changes are linked to the new cycle path project in the Gottleubatal is supported by the city administration's announcement. Construction began in the summer of this year and plans call for the entire route to be around 1.7 kilometers long. It begins on federal highway 172 in Pirna, near the “Auto-Schulz” car dealership, and leads along various streets and paths to the existing cycle path connection at the Walkmühlenweg.

The first construction phase now underway will lead the new cycle path along the northern edge of the cemetery and connect it with existing paths. In total, an investment volume of around 1.45 million euros will flow into the first phase, with 85 percent of these costs being funded by the Free State of Saxony via the State Office for Road Construction and Transport. This section is scheduled to be completed by the end of November, but the schedule for the further construction phases still remains unclear.

Road users in Pirna should prepare for these changes and plan their journeys accordingly. The information about specific roads and their closures is particularly important for commuters and residents in order to avoid traffic jams and delays.
