Traffic chaos in Germering: construction site turns residential streets into traffic jams!

A traffic chaos of the highest order shook Germering on Thursday evening! Around 2,200 cars per hour normally make their way across Landsberger Strasse, but when construction work began at the junction of Bodenseestrasse, Landsberger and Münchner Strasse at 6 p.m., chaos was inevitable. Drivers, especially commuters, suddenly found themselves in front of red and white barriers and no longer knew where to go. Her route home turned into a dead end!

The narrow Walkürenstrasse became the only way out, but that only led to more traffic jams on the narrow residential streets. Honking and desperate gestures dominated the scene as drivers tried to maneuver through the crowd. The situation escalated when trucks and vans could barely find space to turn around in the darkness. Some drivers even ignored the barriers and rolled straight through the construction site while workers desperately tried to stop them.

Buses in traffic jams

The public buses were not spared either. While some bus drivers were stuck in traffic, other stops in the affected area had to be canceled. The Munich transport company had planned a diversion via the A99, but many bus drivers were not informed and found themselves in the chaotic circumstances. The city of Germering, responsible for the construction site, said that a notification was sent out at the end of October, but the implementation was anything but smooth.

The police received numerous calls and sent a patrol to the affected area, but were unable to maintain a permanent presence due to staffing levels. Fortunately, there was no significant damage or accidents, but residents are wondering whether those responsible have really thought about a sensible diversion. The construction work, originally planned for the lower traffic autumn holidays, was postponed due to track work. The closure will last until Friday morning, followed by a further closure on Friday evening. Pure chaos in Germering!
