Chase in the Bavarian Forest: Smuggler crashes into police barrier!
In the middle of the dark night from Saturday to Sunday, a dramatic spectacle took place at the Bavarian border crossing with the Czech Republic. A smuggler behind the wheel of a 5-series BMW raced inexorably away from the federal police and briefly escaped their sight. The driver, notorious for his dangerous maneuvers, had previously brought four migrants to Germany illegally and was now on his return journey.
But the men in blue were prepared: a roadblock with a patrol car across the road was supposed to stop the escapee. But the brave driver from Macedonia saw no brake lights on the horizon, only possibilities. Regardless of the casualties, he crashed into the police car, leaving behind two completely destroyed vehicles. The consequences? A cracking arrest right on the street.
Ready for the extreme
Heiko Teggatz, chairman of the Federal Police Union, gives voice to the frightening normality of such incidents. For him, such dangerous actions have long been part of everyday life, and with every speeding kilometer, smugglers not only put their own lives at risk. “In extreme danger to their lives,” he calls the precarious situation of his colleagues and underlines the drama: the criminal drivers are prepared to risk everything.
Behind this escalation is a federal police strategy: increased border controls for months, which have already led to thousands of successful searches. A sharp line between risk and safety, where every journey poses a risk to life and limb.
