Tönnies becomes Premium Food Group: A new name for old values!
Rheda-Wiedenbrück. The Tönnies group of companies, known for its meat production, will operate under the new name Premium Food Group (PFG) from next year. Managing director Gereon Schulze Althoff announced this exciting change in a media round and emphasized that the company has developed from a small slaughterhouse into one of the highest-grossing food companies in Germany.
But don't worry, the name Tönnies won't be completely forgotten! The brand will continue to stand for beef and pork and will remain on everyone's lips, even as far away as China. Schulze Althoff explained that the group now produces much more than just meat. In addition to sausage products, veggie products, convenience items and even raw materials for the pharmaceutical industry are also produced. The renaming reflects the company's broader focus.
Independent business areas and new perspectives
The various business areas such as Pork, Beef and Logistics will continue to operate autonomously in order to preserve the “speedboat character” of the company. Schulze Althoff emphasized that people should be actively involved in shaping people's healthy diets, and the new green PFG logo will soon replace the large Tönnies lettering on the cold store.
The restructuring comes at a time when the company is facing revenue of 7.3 billion euros, with 57 percent of that coming from Germany. The market challenges were described as “difficult,” but Schulze Althoff remains optimistic: “We believe in the future.” The demand for meat remains, even if slaughter numbers have fallen. Sales of 110 to 220 million euros are targeted for vegetarian products, which shows that the company will continue to focus on diversification in the future.
