Göttingen.In a shocking nighttime action, unknown people daubed the street Am Groner Freibad in Göttingen with offensive slogans! On an area measuring around three by four meters, words were emblazoned in red that referred to the nearby mosque in Königsstieg. The police are faced with a mystery: who is behind this crime?
The investigation is in full swing because the State Security Commissioner has classified the case as politically motivated damage to property. But so far there is no evidence of the perpetrators or their motives, as police spokeswoman Jasmin Kaatz explained. The city of Göttingen acted quickly: the building yard came out on Friday morning to remove the graffiti.
Graffiti in Grone: Residents raise the alarm
An alert resident discovered the graffiti early in the morning around 7:45 a.m. and immediately alerted the police. The investigation is underway and officials are asking the public for help. Anyone with information about the perpetrators is asked to call 0551/491-2115. Göttingen is in turmoil – who dares to deface the city with such provocative messages?
