Food warning: Dangerous butter from Franconia recalled!

Surprising recall from large discounters: The Würzburger Milchwerke have warned that the “Frankenland” and “Penny Deutsche branded butter” should not be consumed. The reason is feared metallic foreign bodies in the products, which can lead to dangerous internal injuries. The affected butter packs weighing 250 grams have best-before dates until January 20, 2025 and were sold in the Edeka, Kaufland and Penny supermarkets in several German federal states. Consumers are urged to check the affected products immediately as sales have already been stopped in Franconia reported.

Significant health risks

The warning was announced because consumption of this butter can lead to serious health problems, including internal injuries and injuries to the mouth and throat. If consumers notice signs of injury after consumption, they are strongly advised to immediately seek medical attention and advise them not to consume the affected product. This advice was also given by the District newspaper picked up.

The recall campaign not only affects Bavaria, where the penny butter is sold, but also the federal states of Baden-Württemberg, Saxony and Thuringia, where the “Frankenland” butter is available. Customers who own one of the endangered butter packages should not consume it, but should either return it to the store or dispose of it directly. The purchase price will of course be refunded to consumers.
