Good resolutions for 2025: How to find the right volunteer position in Saxony!
With the start of the new year, many people make good resolutions, usually related to the desire to live healthier, exercise more or spend less time on social media. However, a particularly popular resolution is volunteering. As the Sächsische.de reports, the Saxony Community Foundation has been offering a platform at www.ehrensache.jetzt since December 2020, which acts as a job exchange for volunteer positions. Clubs can post their offers there, while interested people can find suitable volunteer positions in their area. There are currently over 50 advertisements available from the Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains district. A first offer is that the Maltese are looking for helpers for senior citizens.
Support for volunteers
The Dresden Community Foundation promotes volunteers on behalf of the Saxon State Ministry for Social Affairs and Social Cohesion. The basis is the Saxon Ministry of Social Affairs' guidelines for promoting social cohesion, which came into force on August 26, 2021. Volunteers who do at least 20 hours of voluntary work per month in a project can receive a monthly allowance of between 35 and 45 euros. In 2024, almost 29,000 people in around 5,700 projects benefited from a total of 10.6 million euros in funding.
Various sponsors of volunteer projects are eligible to apply, including non-profit associations, parishes, foundations and other non-profit organizations. The application for the expense allowance is submitted online via the funding portal, with the deadline being October 31st for the following year. For 2025, applications can be submitted from September 1, 2024 to October 31, 2024. Additional information and contact details are also available online.
