A66 at Schiersteiner Kreuz: Massive closures from December 3rd!
From December 3, 2024, the Schiersteiner Kreuz will be the scene of massive traffic disruptions! Motorists have to prepare for significant restrictions, because between 9 a.m. and Friday, December 6th, Autobahn GmbH is carrying out urgently needed repairs on the A66. The heavily stressed concrete slabs of the road must be stabilized to ensure long-term traffic safety. A nightmare for commuters and travelers!
Traffic chaos ahead!
On the first day of work, the Mainz-Rüdesheim exit was closed and the two left lanes in the direction of Wiesbaden city were affected. The Frankfurt-Mainz exit will be closed on December 4th. Road users have to expect massive disruptions and have to adapt to changes in traffic routing. Detours will be signposted on site, but drivers' patience will be put to the test!
Autobahn GmbH appeals to all road users to exercise particular caution in the construction site area. There is also a risk of traffic jams and delays on the diversion routes. Current traffic reports are essential to make your journey as smooth as possible. Drivers should plan for longer travel times, especially during rush hour.
One step to safety!
The repair work is not only annoying, but also necessary! The heavily trafficked area has been subjected to extreme traffic in recent years, resulting in damage to the roadway. Stabilizing the concrete slabs will help prevent further wear and tear and ensure traffic flow. These measures are part of a long-term plan to renew and optimize the infrastructure in the Wiesbaden and Mainz area. Autobahn GmbH has also planned extensive work on the A66 for the coming years to make the region fit for the future!
