Strengthen community: New furniture for youth rooms in the Ahr Valley!
In spring 2023, the Ahrtal Foundation, together with IKEA Koblenz, called for applications for an interior design project for the second time. The aim of this project is to carry out professional interior design and provide high-quality furniture for public spaces. After the successful previous project, which included the establishment of the Marienthal Friendship House, this time the Bad Neuenahr youth room, the Antweiler community center and the Esch community center were selected.
The youth room in Bad Neuenahr was equipped with a concept that is based on the needs of young people. This includes a modern kitchen, a large sofa corner and additional furniture. The furniture was picked up in August and mostly assembled, with the electrical appliances coming from the Ahrtal donation distribution center.
Details about the selected projects
The community center in Antweiler received tables, chairs and cupboards to be restored as a central location for meetings and events. In addition, parts of the kitchen and missing furniture were ordered for the youth room in Hönningen. The hall support association in Esch worked on the renovation of the Escher Hall, which is being restored after flood damage. For this purpose, the building will be equipped with shelves, lamps, curtains and furniture, while the Ahrtal Foundation will provide support.
In total, the furniture and furnishings provided are worth 15,000 euros. In addition, additional materials and purchases worth 2,000 euros were provided. Thanks go to the Ahrtal Foundation and IKEA Koblenz for their many years of support since the flood disaster View current and Ahrtal Foundation report.
