Smoking for playgrounds: New protection for children throughout Austria!
The Austrian Health Minister Johannes Rauch is making a clear turn in non-smoking protection with a new law on tobacco and non-smoking protection regulation. A comprehensive ban on smoking is planned in all children's playgrounds in Austria to protect children from the dangers of the passive smoke and the endangerment by thrown away cigarettes, such as
new smoke -free zones in the EU
At the same time, there are efforts to extend smoke-free zones at EU level, which is also accompanied by the aim of protecting children and adolescents. The EU Commission has proposed to prohibit smoking in leisure areas such as public playgrounds, swimming pools and stops, such as Zeit.de . This is not only traditional tobacco products, but also new variants such as e-cigarettes.
Despite the great striving for extensive smoking bans, implementation is not quite simple. In the EU Parliament there have recently been difficult to find a common position, which meant that a corresponding resolution was rejected. This is also evident from the fact that the direct effects of such recommendations on Germany remain unclear, since each nation independently decides on health guidelines. The debates about these measures reflect the need to ensure clear protection for the health of our younger generations, while at the same time the concerns about possible economic effects on the catering trade are expressed.
