In the frightening reality of plastic waste, our earth is becoming more and more suffocated! An incredible 400 million tons of plastic are produced worldwide every year - and the trend is rising! Our planet is battling the ongoing flood of plastic waste reaching every corner of the planet. A burning topic that ZDF will illuminate in a fascinating “planet e.” documentary on Saturday, November 24th, 2024, at 3:45 p.m. and will be made visible in a unique “Long Night” from Wednesday, November 27th to Thursday, November 28th, 2024, from 1:00 a.m. to 3:45 a.m.
UN conference as a turning point
Environmental reporter Andreas Stamm reports directly from the current UN conference in Busan, South Korea, where a binding international agreement against plastic waste is to be negotiated. The ZDF documentary goes into depth: Rivers are one of the main routes through which plastic waste gets into the oceans. German rivers are also already affected! The reporter Frauke Ludwig actively searches for clues in the documentary “Endless Plastic – How Rivers Pollute the Seas”.
