Open day at the KHG: Discover, participate and Advent magic!

An exciting day is ahead! On Saturday, November 30th, the Konrad-Heresbach-Gymnasium in Mettmann will open its doors to all curious people from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Students, parents and interested parties are invited to experience the school up close. Exciting tours start at 10 a.m. in which the various subjects shine through captivating experiments and hands-on activities. At 11 a.m. there will be an information lecture in which the headmaster, the lower school coordinator and the student representative introduce the high school and give insights into school life.

A look into the future

It will be particularly exciting for the fourth graders! You have the opportunity to take part in trial lessons in various subjects. Meanwhile, parents can find out about the components of the test level conference and find out everything important about the coming school years. But that's not all! The traditional Advent bazaar begins at 1 p.m., organized by the ELSA (Parent-Teacher-Student Committee) of the KHG. Here, visitors can enjoy handmade crafts, delicious food and drinks, and even purchase hand-tied Advent wreaths.

Part of the proceeds goes to an important project: “Computers for the Nyakibale Girls’ Vocational School in Rukungiri/Uganda” by OPAM. This project is committed to promoting literacy and supporting young girls and women, including many orphans, in acquiring IT skills. This paves the way for them to successfully complete their studies and lead a self-determined life. The crowning conclusion of the day is the Advent singing by the fifth graders from 3 p.m. in the auditorium, accompanied by the big band - a feast for the ears!
