Magical book fair Pott Phantastika” attracts fantasy fans to Gelsenkirchen!

In Gelsenkirchen, fans of fantasy and science fiction literature are in a party mood again. The second edition of the “Pott Phantastika” book fair will take place on the weekend of October 12th and 13th in the picturesque Horst Castle. After the great response last year, the organizers are hoping for an equally successful event.

This year the fair attracts 55 exhibitors, including various authors from all over Germany. Readings start every hour on each day of the event, during which the writers present exciting excerpts from their latest works. In addition to books, you will also find many other merchandise items from the fascinating world of fantasy and science fiction.

Free entry and new prices for visitors

An important aspect of “Pott Phantastika” is that the creators, Salvatore Treccarichi, Jana Jeworreck and Karsten Zingsheim, are not interested in commercial aspects. This also means that entry is free on both days – Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. – which should attract a wider audience.

This year, for the first time, two audience awards will be awarded to recognize the creative participants. One prize is awarded for the most popular book and the other for the most eye-catching cosplay among fair visitors. A cash prize of 250 euros will be made available to each of the two winners, and the award ceremony will take place on Sunday.

Authors taking part in the fair include popular names such as Janina Jordan, Lily Konrad, and Markus Heitkamp. A large number of publishers will also be there to present their current works. This clearly shows that “Pott Phantastika” is not only a platform for authors, but also for publishers who want to introduce themselves and their products to a wide audience.

The organizers are optimistic about the future. “Thanks to our success last year, all of our author tables were fully booked within ten days,” reports the trio happily. In view of the great demand, the next dates for the book fair in 2025 and 2026 have already been set. This shows that the “Pott Phantastika” is becoming a permanent institution for fantasy fans in Germany.

The book fair highlights the importance of exchange and community among fans and creators of this genre. The fact that a regulars' table for fantasy authors in Bochum served as the starting point illustrates how such initiatives can bring creative minds together to create a lively and welcoming atmosphere.

The anticipation for the trade fair is palpable, and it remains to be seen what new ideas and stories visitors can expect in addition to the extensive range of books and merchandise. Viewers can look forward to interesting encounters, exciting readings and the opportunity for interactive discussions as they immerse themselves in the fantastic worlds of literature.
