New animal happiness at the Dortmund Zoo: Twins among the pygmy marmosets!

Animal joy in the zoos: A new baby sloth can be admired in the Schönbrunn Zoo in Vienna, while two pygmy marmosets were born in Dortmund Zoo. This happy news surprised animal lovers at both facilities and offers a fantastic experience during the Advent season.

Sloth offspring in Schönbrunn

On November 18th, an adorable two-toed sloth was born in the famous Schönbrunn Zoo and can now be seen safely at his mother's side. According to Dr. Stephan Hering-Hagenbeck, director of the zoo, is already the 14th cub of this pair of sloths. The caring mother takes intensive care of her child, who is nursed for around six months. The vegetables that the young animal is now nibbling also receive special attention. Visitors can experience relaxing moments in this tranquil environment where the sloths snooze for up to 20 hours a day. A visit to these fascinating animals promises relaxation in the middle of the pre-Christmas hustle and bustle oe24 reported.

Twins at Dortmund Zoo

There is also reason to celebrate at Dortmund Zoo: On November 27th, the dwarf marmoset Paratinga gave birth to two cute twins. These adorable newborns weigh only about 15 grams and are carried around the enclosure by the mother, while the two males, Leonardo and Christopher, play fatherly roles. Interestingly, these males often take over the care of the young, while the mother is only active to suckle. This fascinating reproductive and rearing mechanism ensures a warm community among pygmy marmosets, reported TheWest.

This animal news in Vienna and Dortmund shows that even in the hectic pre-Christmas period, the animal world comes up with happy surprises that make every animal lover's heart beat faster.
