The man, who comes from Peine, attacked his victims, three men and a woman, all Germans and neighbors, on the side of the road in Vallstedt while they were busy with everyday activities, such as sweeping the sidewalk or working in their gardens. Initial investigations suggested that there may be a mental illness.

The victims, including an 18-year-old, a 66-year-old and a 73-year-old, suffered serious injuries and are currently being treated in various hospitals. Fortunately, all three men are out of danger and some were able to be interviewed by the police on Saturday evening.

The fourth injured person, a 48-year-old woman, was also taken to hospital, but no further information about her condition is available. “Medical treatment is in full swing and all patients are receiving the best possible care,” said police spokesman Malte Jansen.
