Kitchen fire in Mönchengladbach: Five injured after smoke develops
Drama in Mönchengladbach-Rheydt! On the evening of October 24, 2024, at 9:09 p.m., a kitchen fire broke out in a restaurant, which luckily resulted in minor injuries for five people. The attentive employees quickly noticed the fire and were able to fight it themselves with a fire extinguisher. But the danger was not averted: the heavy smoke meant that five people had to receive emergency medical treatment and were taken to hospital.
The fire department was there quickly to get the situation under control. The fire brigade from Fire and Rescue Station III from Rheydt, supported by an emergency fire engine from Station II from Holt, and the unit from the Rheydt Volunteer Fire Department were alerted. The ambulances and an emergency doctor were standing by while the operations manager, chief fire inspector Karin Mrosek, monitored the situation.
Shocking consequences for the restaurant
Restaurant operations had to be stopped for the rest of the evening. The fire department also issued an important warning: Avoid staying in smoke-filled areas, even to extinguish the fire! In an emergency, you should immediately call the emergency number and get to safety. The lightning response of the employees and the rapid fire department prevented anything worse from happening, but the events once again highlight the importance of fire safety in public facilities!
