Creative children design colorful benches for Meißen: art for everyone!
Meissen.A creative adventure unfolds in Meißen, where children and young people use brushes and paint to transform the city into a colorful work of art! The Meißen Tourism Association has brought a brilliant idea to life: ten wooden benches will be manufactured in the DRK workshop and designed by the young artists from the Arche Meißen leisure facility. These unique benches will soon be installed around the city and are designed to not only beautify the streets, but also let children's creativity shine!
The first benches have already arrived in the Ark's painting room and the excitement is palpable! Social worker Marcel Brettschneider observes how the talented Lea paints a bright blue tulip on the seat. “Together with the children, we worked on sketches that range from Meissen motifs to graffiti,” explains Marcel enthusiastically. Jeanette Ender from the tourism association is also there and captures the creative moments: “It's fantastic to see how the young generation implements their ideas and delights others with them!” The benches will not only be distributed throughout the city, but also strategically placed with a view to the big 1,000th anniversary celebration in 2029.
A celebration of creativity
The painting campaign is attracting more and more young artists! Siblings and parents are enthusiastic and transform the painting room into creative chaos. "This is really fun! Look how beautiful the tree has become!" Melina shouts with joy. Her mother beams with pride. “Today is family afternoon and there’s really something going on here,” says Marcel. All the benches should be finished by Christmas, and a porcelain painter will even be brought in to help bring typical Meissen motifs onto the benches. “This strengthens the connection with the city,” says Jeanette Ender with certainty. The project also receives support from the Sparkasse, which only increases the anticipation of the colorful works of art!
