Kramertunnel: Things are finally moving on – new company takes over construction!
The Kramer Tunnel, a project that has long suffered from a shadow of delays and complications, is finally getting underway again! Porr Deutschland GmbH has been awarded the contract for the crucial work on the inner shell and the rescue tunnel. The company could begin construction work in Garmisch-Partenkirchen in just a few weeks – a ray of hope after a grueling year!
“It’s never nice when a construction project comes to a standstill,” says Raphael Zuber, head of major projects. This was exactly the case when the collaboration with the previous partner, BeMo Tunneling, stalled. But now that the objection period has expired, the contract can finally come into force. “We are all breathing a sigh of relief,” emphasizes Zuber, who understands the urgency of the situation. The work on the inner shell is crucial to making further progress with the tunnel.
The plans for the Kramer Tunnel
Porr GmbH will now concentrate on building the inner shell of the rescue tunnel, where around 700 meters are still missing. Concrete work is underway in the main tunnel to set up the operating rooms and seal the tube. “It is important that the water is no longer diverted artificially,” explains Zuber. A construction start-up meeting should initiate the start of work, followed by setting up on the construction site. The existing technology, such as the formwork carriage for interior work, is ready and could be used immediately.
The remaining interior work is scheduled to take nine months, and if all goes according to plan, pavement installation could be completed by the end of 2025. The hope that the Kramer Tunnel will be opened to traffic in 2027 will become tangible again with this new contract. A decisive step forward for everyone involved!
