Jeremy Renner: Dead for a Minute” – insights into his horror accident!
Hollywood star Jeremy Renner (54), known as “Hawkeye” from the Marvel universe, spoke in a moving interview about his harrowing near-death experience after a near-fatal accident. The accident occurred on New Year's Day 2023 when Renner tried to save his nephew's life and put his own life in danger in the process. He lost control of his 6-ton snow groomer in front of his home in Lake Tahoe, Nevada. To stop the machine, he jumped back into the cabin, but fell under the chains and suffered 38 broken bones. Renner lay bleeding on the ground, alone and seriously injured, in a snowstorm for 45 minutes before rescue workers arrived. He was flown to hospital, underwent emergency surgery and was in an induced coma for two days, where he reported being "dead - for maybe a minute" and described the feeling as peaceful.
In his conversation, Renner emphasizes that he does not want to be celebrated as a hero because his actions resulted from love for his nephew. He even remembers his last words before impact: “Not today, motherfucker.” Today, 20 percent of his body is made of titanium, with plates to stabilize his chest, face and eye socket. His left shin is almost completely artificial. Despite these serious injuries, Renner is medically considered “chronically ill” but is fitter than ever. Through constant rehabilitation, healthy eating and discipline, he has fought back and believes that without the accident he would not have taken the same care of himself and may live a longer, healthier life.
Way back to life
Renner is back in front of the camera and is there for his daughter Ava (12). He speaks openly about trauma, pain and gratitude, conveying an encouraging message: Even in difficult times, you can get back up. His new book deals with his accident and the way back to life. In Germany, an estimated 3.3 million people have had near-death experiences. These experiences, which often include peaceful feelings or great fears, are independent of age, religion or nationality.
Near-death experiences (NDEs) are profound psychological events that occur in life-threatening situations or serious medical crises. The characteristics of such experiences range from extraordinary states of consciousness to encounters with the deceased. Renner’s experience can be seen as part of this broader phenomenon, which can bring about positive changes but also stresses. Negative NDEs can trigger anxiety and depression, highlighting the importance of professional support in dealing with such experiences.
Processing trauma
Processing NDEs often requires time, understanding and professional support. Therapy options include psychotherapy, spiritual counseling and body therapies. Positive outcomes from such experiences often lead to a new sense of peace, purpose and increased compassion. However, the romanticization of NDEs in the media can create a distorted perception that neglects the challenges and negative aspects.
In summary, Jeremy Renner's touching story shows that strength and hope can arise from even the darkest moments. His courage in sharing his story could serve as a ray of hope to many others who have had similar experiences.
