New district fire inspector Marcell Büttner: An exciting start in the Vogelsberg district!

A new era is ushering in the Vogelsberg district: Marcell Büttner has officially taken up his position as district fire inspector (KBI) and head of the emergency response office. On October 1, 2024, District Administrator Dr. Mischak warmly welcomed him together with First District Councilor Patrick Krug and other colleagues. Büttner, 49 years old, brings with him a wealth of experience in the area of fire protection and emergency response, which he acquired during his previous career in the Frankfurt Fire Department.

His path led him from training as a communications electronics engineer at Telekom to his great passion, the fire service. Since 1997, Büttner has held various positions and has gained extensive experience in staff work, be it bomb disposal, storm operations or refugee accommodation. He also brings with him specialist knowledge from the rescue service, where he worked as a trained paramedic.

An eventful start to the new position

The new office and the fresh challenges were not empty promises, as Büttner's first day at work was anything but boring. Almost immediately after the official appointment, the groundbreaking ceremony for the new 24/7 rescue station took place in the Eulersdorf district of Grebenau. Here Büttner had the opportunity to make initial contacts and familiarize himself with the local infrastructure.

As soon as he received his certificate of appointment, another important moment occurred: in the evening of the same day he was called to his first assignment in Schotten. An apartment building burned there. Büttner was able to convince himself that the quick action of his fellow firefighters could prevent something worse from happening. "My first day in the new office was eventful. I met many new colleagues and was very well received," he said after the incident.

Marcell Büttner succeeds Dr. Sven Holland and brings not only his technical knowledge, but also his personal enthusiasm for the fire service to the new role. He has been active in the volunteer fire department in his home community of Ebsdorfergrund for over 30 years and has led numerous broad training courses and examinations at the state fire brigade school during this time.

“We are pleased to have gained an experienced fire service expert in Marcell Büttner,” explained Dr. Mishak. In his new position, Büttner will not only be responsible for fire protection, but also for the central control center, the rescue service and disaster control in the Vogelsberg district. He sees himself up to the responsibility and is ready to take on the many challenges that await him in this area.
