First snow in the Rhine-Main area: Winter magic only for a short time!

Offenbach, Deutschland - Winter has reached the Rhein-Main area with a bang! The first snow of the season fell in Offenbach on Wednesday evening (November 20), but the wintry idyll did not last long. There wasn't much left of the white splendor on Thursday morning, but the weather forecasts promise another snow spectacle for the weekend!

The German Weather Service (DWD) warns of frost and smoothness for Thursday. The temperatures fluctuate between minus three and plus four degrees, while the wind blows heavily. In parts of Hesse, snow showers are occasionally possible, and the night on Friday could make the streets dangerously smooth again, because the temperatures could fall to minus six degrees!

A change in the weather is imminent!

Friday does not improve: cloudy sky and the risk of snow or freezing rain are the order of the day. The smoothness becomes a challenge, especially at high altitudes over 300 meters. Strong gusts from southwest provide additional turbulence. The temperatures remain cool, between minus four and plus three degrees. Even on Saturday it remains frosty, with temperatures from zero to minus four degrees and other snow showers. But then, an unexpected change in weather! From Sunday, the temperatures rise up to 16 degrees and bring spring -like prospects for the coming week. The first Advent could be anything but wintry this year!
