Heart failure in focus: Experts clarify – Register now!

(Obernkirchen) On Wednesday, November 27th, 2024, at 6:00 p.m., things will get serious! The two chief physicians of cardiology at the Schaumburg Clinic, Dr. Christian Heer and Dr. Söhnke Theiß, explain the explosive topic of heart failure. In cooperation with the Schaumburg Adult Education Center, the population is informed about the alarming symptoms and treatment options. Heart failure, a disease that affects up to four million people in Germany, can have fatal consequences and is the third most common cause of death with over 37,000 deaths annually!

The warning signs are often subtle but dangerous: shortness of breath even with minimal exertion and a sudden decrease in performance can be signs of serious heart failure. The cardiologists emphasize the urgency of educating the population about risk factors such as high blood pressure, diabetes and lack of exercise. “We want to raise awareness and educate,” say the two doctors, who also emphasize the importance of prevention. Heart failure affects around ten percent of people aged 60 to 79 in particular, and the numbers continue to rise due to demographic change and improved treatment options.
