Göttingen region.On November 9th, the Kristallnacht pogrom of 1938 will be honored in the Göttingen region with a variety of commemorative events in churches, cemeteries and memorial sites. These moving memories of the victims take place in the form of concerts, lectures and city tours so that the injustice of the past is not forgotten.
In Göttingen, a sound room service will be held at 5 p.m. in the St. Johannis Church, where the Harnisch Ensemble under Bernd Eberhardt will present Jewish liturgical music by Louis Lewandowski. Afterwards, a walk together leads to the memorial service at the former synagogue. At 6 p.m., the Society for Christian-Jewish Cooperation invites you to a memorial hour on the synagogue square, where students from the Max Planck High School will discuss the fate of a Jewish family during the Nazi era.
Duderstadt
A guided tour will be offered in Duderstadt on November 8th that will shed light on the city's Jewish history from 1933 to 1945. The “Duderstadt remains colorful” initiative takes participants to important places such as the former synagogue and the Jewish cemetery. On November 9th, the Klezmer project orchestra Klezpo will perform in the Weender St. Petri Church at 8 p.m. and will present both dance music and sacred music.
Northeim
In Northeim there will be a wreath-laying ceremony at the memorial stone for the former Jewish citizens on November 9th, organized by the city and the ecumenical working group. At 6 p.m. the act of commemoration will be enriched by contributions from members of the ecumenical working group. In Rosdorf, a memorial hour will be held in the Jewish cemetery at 4 p.m. at which the parish and the local council will jointly commemorate the victims.
